Kat Von D Palettes

I've always admired Kat Von D's palettes, but never bought any.  Yesterday my girl friend Buena mentioned that the Lucifer (matte charcoal black) eyeshadow in her bought her True Romance Eyeshadow Palette - Beethoven (refer to picture below) cracked.  So she brought it over when we played around with our makeup.  She also told me that she had another friend who said an eyeshadow in one of her Kat Von D palettes cracked..  My friend doesn't use much makeup and didn't touch the eyeshadow enough to hit pan, so I found that very odd.  I'm wondering if this is a common occurrence with this brand...  Did anyone else have this happen to them?
