Yay or Nay: Hotel Samples

My mom is very frugal and would always tell me to take all the hotel samples I can get when I stay over in one.  So from that I will always take them home.  If you think about it, we do pay for them since hotel rates are highly overpriced per night.  Aside from taking these home, which I assume you also do, how do you feel about using them?  Do you like the hotel shampoos, conditioners, soaps, etc?

I love how convenient they are making it easier to travel and not worry about packing our personal items and going through airport security, etc.  BUT I think from now on I may just bring my own..  I have noticed that my skin reacts to hotel products, which are usually small bumps on my skin.  They go away in a few days but that is something I do not want to worry about especially if I am on vacation.  Have any of you had this problem before?  Do hotels just use generic items?  From now on using these will be a NAY on my list.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks for reading,

  1. Some samples I've used are ok but some I really don't like cuz they feel weird. Either way, it's too little for me to use so I just bring my own items.

    1. Yeah that's true. But usually housekeeping should give you new bottles if they see you're running low.

  2. I want to share too. My grandma used to take hotel samples such as shampoos and soaps and give it to me. Guess what! The shampoo and conditioners weren't that good! I think the commercial ones were better.

I can't remember which hotel it is but I liked one soap that had oatmeal. It's not common for hotels to have that kind.

    1. Oh! Oatmeal? That's interesting. I didn't know some hotels had that in their soap. Next time I should look at the ingredients so I know which to use and not to use! Haha.

  3. The samples I have used so far have been ok, but nothing special really and so I reallt don´t see no point of bringing them home with me.

    1. That's true. We end up not using any of the samples we take but instead of throwing it away we either donate them or sent them to our family members in the Philippines to help out anyway we can. =)

  4. I have only found the products to be really good a couple of times. In Greece, the hotel we stayed in had great products, but their products are known to be good anyway. I went there to see relatives for the first time and didn't see much of Greece. I have found that when I stay with family even, they don't always have products for me to use, so I take my own. I sometimes even buy trial size so I can put them in my carry on. I hate when you have bigger sizes and they leak all over your clothes in the bag you have to check!
